Audiobooks, podcasts and resting while traveling, forgotten old friends.

It’s true for van life, traveling in general but more broadly speaking when I’m doing things that do not require a lot of concentration, audiobooks and podcasts are the way to go, but also resting and keep a moment to think, or not to think.

I was writing “we almost forget it” the reality it that we have forgotten, how to live without our phone, I’m the first one to be guilty of this, heck I even need it to open my car. But I think that traveling might be the perfect occasion to allow ourself to stay away from it and to enjoy time with ourselves, to rest, or if we are afraid of being alone in our thoughts, then we can listen to a book or a podcast and learn something real, not quick tips that we are probably never going to use.

This wast just a quick reminder that you can do other things other than checking at your screen, because I appreciate each and everyone of you visiting my website, and if you need some inputs on good audiobooks here are a few mixed with podcasts, but this is my personal taste and I’m not aware of every author, in addition to this translations and availability may vary in each country.

  • Gianrico Carofiglio, I loved each ones of his books, those are legal thrillers that take place in Bari, Apulia, south Italy, particularly interesting to my eyes because there’s always a concept to learn from.

  • Classics like Marcus Aurelius “Meditations”; the “Republic” by Plato, those are good books easily available in every language, that give us an understanding of the roots of philosophy that is still applied today.

  • 1984 by George Orwell, really in the air of times and compatible with the “twitter files”.

  • The “Poirot” saga by Agatha Christie, or the equally excellent “Maigret” saga by Georges Simenon.

  • “Think Fast, Think Slow” by Daniel Kahneman, wonderful book about biases, that I suggest you read at least once a year if you are serious about respecting your time on this planet.

  • “The little prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a book that probably you have read in your childless but is always pertinent, plus the author was a true badass adventurer, so you also might take inspiration to bring your van into new adventures.

  • “The three Musketeers” as well as “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, I love those two books.

Or simply search for an audiobook about the history f your country, doesn’t matter, you will feel richer when you learned something new.
